As the festive season begins, more than 60 artists, makers and designers at Krowji will open their studio doors to the public for just one weekend, offering visitors a rare opportunity to buy unique Christmas gifts from jewellers, painters, printmakers, sculptors, potters, textile artists and more.

The Open Studios event will launch on Friday 30th November from 5pm - 9pm, with a first chance to buy, plus festive entertainment from local choir the Ingleheart Singers, and a complimentary glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December, the studios will be open from 10am to 5pm daily, and the entertainment continues with pop-up performances from local musicians and an inspiring Christmas choir.

Throughout the weekend, Krowji's artists, makers and designers will be on hand to welcome visitors to their studios, discuss their work, and offer the chance to buy unique Christmas gifts direct from their makers. Some of the 60 participants include jeweller Hayley Agar, sculptor Lizzie Stevens, glass designer Naomi Singer, ceramicist Thomasina Bates, mixed media artist Vicki Aimers, feltmaker Bettina Holland, printmaker Fijke Middendorp, illustrator Esther Connon, photographer Paul Syrett, painters Alasdair Lindsay, Kerry Harding, Andrew Barrowman, Eleanor Lee, Dan Hollings, and many others.

This FREE event is a great opportunity to get behind the scenes of Cornwall's largest creative hub, and celebrate the season with a weekend of art, food and festive performance. Onsite parking is FREE throughout Open Studios, and Krowji's Melting Pot Café will be open daily for food and refreshments.

Editors Notes

Krowji

Krowji - meaning ‘workshop' in Cornish - is a professional working environment for creative people. Based in a renovated grammar school in Cornwall's former industrial heartland, Krowji is the county's largest creative hub and provides studios, workspaces, offices, a cafe, meeting rooms and other facilities for a wide range of creative businesses. Opened in 2005, it is home to a vibrant community which currently includes painters, jewellers, furniture makers, ceramicists, textile artists, web designers, theatre companies and musicians, as well as several of Cornwall's key creative sector agencies, such as Cultivator & Creative Skills, FEAST, Carn to Cove, Cornwall Music Network and Cornwall 365, all of which are part of our umbrella organisation Creative Kernow.
