100thAnniversary of Armistice Day Special

"Beautiful, poignant and humorous" - A Child's War

Returns To London's Tabard Theatre For Remembrance Day

"The cast of three wove a seamless story, dipping in and out of marvellous characters; from the harsh virol-administering nurse (suspected of espionage!) to the adored father in the RAF, who grapples with conveying terms such as war, Nazis and blimps to his four year old daughter. The word 'evacuee' resonates in the theatre, as the play unravels and reveals a child's wartime experiences told beautifully, humorously and poignantly; scenes of sweet shop queueing in times of rationing, sheltering in murky caves and classroom capers between digging for victory." -www.chiswickw4.com

Lotte Moore: A Child’s War Poster

London, United Kingdom, September 2018:

Lotte Moore's: A Child's War tells the story of  a young girl's experiences living in Britain during the Second World War. Both the First and Second World Wars represent a time of hardship, heroism and hope. As a young child, Lotte (now in her 80s) was not fully aware of the dangers and struggles around her, but her memories of evacuation, rationing, blackouts and bombs give an incredible true insight into life during wartime Britain.

This unique and much-loved production was adapted and directed for the stage by Nick Bromley from local author Lotte Moore's Amazon best-selling book, Lotte's War (Urbane Publications, November 2016). It is an accessible, first-hand account of a childhood facing the perils of war with a mixture of  innocence, fear and fun.

This production played a limited run at the Tabard Theatre in March 2018 where it played to packed performances with rave reviews, and now returns for a series of special performances in commemoration of the 100thAnniversary of Armistice Day, featuring Kirsty Jackson as Lotte, Victoria Brown as Sophie, and Jack Ayres as Ben.

ABOUT LOTTE MOORE

Chiswick-resident Lotte Moore has written more than 25 books including children's stories, novels (In The Fast Lane, May 2018, Hashtag Press), poems and short story collections. Her picture books include The Invisible Elephant, The Dinosaur Who Ate A Piano and, of course, The Teaspoon Family, which are enjoyed by young boys and girls around the world.

As a child, Lotte lived in Kent with her parents who enjoyed entertaining, political debate and literary discussion with the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, H E Bates, W H Auden and Benjamin Britten. She was often lonely and turned to writing (stories, diary, poems and letters) to express her feelings of isolation. In her early teens her commitment turned to ballet, point shoes replaced the pen. She was selected by the Royal Ballet School to dance in the Opera Ballet. When rejected for growing ‘too tall' Lotte turned to acting and intermittently to writing.

She married aged 38 to her loyal husband Chris (who continues to support Lotte by typing out her hand-written stories). Lotte became immersed in her stepchildren and then her own two girls. When her daughters left home she describes "empty years" filled by illness and family problems, and she turned to writing once again. She gives her time freely to talk to young people in schools across the country and is passionate about inspiring children to read and write and become storytellers!
