A Stafford firm of accountants is celebrating after being named as a finalist in the 2018 British Accountancy Awards - the industry's most prestigious awards.

Howards Chartered Certified Accountants is in the running for Independent Firm of the Year (Wales and Midlands). The accolade will go to the firm that has demonstrated excellence in the profession and will be presented at London's Grosvenor House on September 26.

Howards' managing director Matthew Bailey was thrilled with the news and says that being a finalist reflects the inclusive approach and hard work of the Howards team, plus a commitment within the organisation to deliver a first class service for its clients.

In its award submission Howards demonstrated a wealth of knowledge and experience to support businesses of all types and sizes with a broad portfolio of services, including pension auto-enrolment, payroll, VAT, personal and corporate tax planning and strategic tax planning.

"It's the first time we've been shortlisted for this award so it's really exciting for me and my team," says Matt.

"Given the overwhelming number and standard of entries this year, we're very proud to have been shortlisted for the Independent Firm of the Year award and whatever happens on the night, getting this far is a major achievement in itself."
