Yorkshire Wolds brewery and events business raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support
A Yorkshire Wolds brewery and events business are raising valuable funds for a leading cancer charity.
Hunmanby based Wold Top Brewery and sister company Muddy Souls Events are supporting Macmillan Cancer Support as their chosen charity of the year.
The charity provides practical, emotional and personal support to people affected by cancer every year. The charity is there to support people during treatment, help with work and money worries, and listen when people need to talk about their feelings.
Muddy Souls events manager Anne Duerden said: "We are delighted to support such an incredible charity, and one that is very close to our hearts.
"Macmillan receives no government funding and relies on donations, so we're proud to have raised£2887 this year to date through a series of events that include the Open Garden and Brewery weekend, the Wedding Open Evening, Moonbeams, Dragon Boat Racing and other fund-raisers like a pancake day, a rugby sweepstake, a cheese toastie day and a murder mystery event!
"We'd like to thank everyone who helps us raise these funds as we couldn't do this without you. It gives us a great deal of pleasure to be able to support charities, both local and national, and we look forward to bringing you updates on our achievements later in the year."
Becky Read, Macmillan Cancer Support's Fund Raising Manager for East Yorkshire, attended the Open Garden and Brewery weekend with her mobile team and was delighted with the outcome: "Over the two days the team interacted with over 150 people, which is a large proportion of the attendees to the weekend.
"I'm really pleased that we were able to get the mobile team there and to provide support to the people that needed it and I think it's brilliant that your Charity of the Year partnership with us is not only raising money but also awareness of signs, symptoms and services, so a huge thank you to you all again!"
Since the brewery was founded 15 years ago (and with the help of Muddy Souls Events since 2013), it has raised over £45,000 for charitable causes including NGS nursing charities, Kidney Research UK, the Poppy Appeal and the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail.
