Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) has played a leading role in a new film that aims to highlight how housing associations are delivering solutions to the nation's housing crisis.

Shot in a news report format and introduced by presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, the film was produced by ITN Productions, and premiered recently at the Chartered Institute of Housing's (CIH) conference in Manchester.

The area's leading provider of affordable homes, joined other housing associations from across the country at the UK's highest profile housing conference that puts the spotlight on a range of issues facing the industry - and how organisations such as SARH are delivering innovative solutions.

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, commented: "The film shows how we are working with a wide range of partners, including local authorities, parish councils and local residents to establish housing need before starting work on homes that are designed to complement their surroundings and meet that need. SARH has built more than 850 new homes in five years and has improved existing homes. SARH is certainly playing a part in meeting the challenge of ‘Solving the Housing Crisis'.

"Of course, thriving neighbourhoods are not just about bricks and mortar, whether they are in the countryside or more urban areas, and SARH does everything it can to keep communities together. At the same time it supports projects to combat isolation and loneliness, issues that are also becoming an increasing risk to health and wellbeing for the most vulnerable residents, particularly in rural areas.

"This matches the SARH vision of Creating Great Places to Live, Work and Grow."
