Longwool Icelandic sheepskin rugs

Supplied by The English Cowhide Company and direct to them from the geo-thermal tannery in Iceland are these Longwool sheepskin rugs, generally accepted as the most beautiful sheepskin in the world. Perfect for decorative purposed these sheepskins can be used in a baby's cot, on a chair or on a cold floor, they are very versatile.
The Icelandic sheep is a hardy breed, wandering free in the mountain pastures during the summer. The unusually long haired coat has evolved over the centuries protecting the sheep from the harsh climate. The long outer hairs repel water whilst the short inner hairs keep the sheep warm.
Icelandic sheep have not had the colours eliminated by selective breeding so the skins come in a wonderful range of natural colours, unaffected by the tanning process.
The rugs measure approx. 95-100cm x 70-75cm and are available , umber, white and black.
