Not only is Hunmanby business Spirit of Yorkshire making history as Yorkshire's first malt whisky distillery, but its music venue is also attracting high profile acts. Recent artists at its monthly Distillery Sessions include Robert Schmuck, Andy Stones and Edwina Hayes, who returns to the Pot Still Coffee Shop venue with The Mile Roses on 29thJune.

Spirit of Yorkshire co-founder, Tom Mellor is delighted to welcome The Mile Roses to the Pot Still stage for the first time: "With my Wold Top Brewery hat on, Edwina has been a friend of the Moonbeams Festival since it began 10 years ago, and we're delighted to welcome her back to the distillery following a successful solo appearance here last month."

The Mile Roses is a new touring collaboration from three respected solo songwriters performing as a band. Edwina Hayes on vocals, guitar and percussion, Kate Bramley on vocals, fiddle, mandolin and cittern and Simon Haworth on vocals, guitar and fretless bass have all toured worldwide as independent musicians. Born out of a musical interest in both British folk and the transatlantic connections to new country and Americana, the trio are now gaining a reputation across the UK folk scene and describe their music as ‘Contemporary original British folk with a nod to Nashville... great upbeat music mixing British folk with the smoother sounds of singer-songwriter Americana.'

Notes to editors

  1. Carrie Martin is a true born and bred Yorkshire lass. Born in Hull, she first picked up a guitar at the age of four when her older brother was making efforts to learn the instrument. Being drawn to it, and having far more natural aptitude for playing than her slightly reluctant sibling, she made her first public performance at the tender age of nine, playing at a school concert. A modest debut perhaps, but it whetted her appetite for more, and her teenage years were defined by music. For more information, please visithttp://www.carriemartin.co.uk/
  2. With a unique blend of music, stories, haunting harmonies and crunchy chords, Raven take you on a fabulous journey through a fusion of irresistible sounds: daring choral, sizzling salsa, whimsical pop, ethereal melodies and rootsy folk.

Playing a variety of instruments, including keyboard, penny whistles, accordion, guitars, flute, congas, ukulele, recorders and djembe, Raven create a tapestry of life, love and laughter.
