Yorkshire garden centre entrepreneur to speak at industry conference

 

The Managing Director of a leading Yorkshire garden centre has been invited to talk at a major horticultural industry conference in Birmingham next month.

 

Mark Farnsworth, co-owner of Tong Garden Centre in Bradford will take part in a panel discussion at the Horticulture Week ‘Garden 360' conference at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on13th June.

 

The title of the discussion is ‘Reducing plastic usage in horticulture' and fellow panel members includeGuy Barter, Chief Horticulturist for the RHS  andJonathan Whittemore from Johnson's of Whixley. 

 

Mark said: "It's a great honour to be asked to sit on a discussion panel at Garden 360 to discuss theissues with plastic products and their disposal and the need for a suitable alternativewith respected industry executives."

 

The one day Garden 360 event brings together stakeholders from across the garden industry to address the most pressing challenges they are facing and to come up with effective strategies in order to build resilient businesses in an era of constant change.

 

Garden 360 is organised by Horticulture Week, and other subjects being addressed at the summit include ‘How can the garden industry go from being great to being exceptional?' and ‘Overcoming the challenge of recruiting, training and retaining talented staff'.

 

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 14 acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire's biggest garden centres with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 1,000 car
