Suki Wapshott | Summer Colours, Polzeath

This summer, Whitewater gallery celebrates high season with an exhibition of work by three of its leading artists. Painter Suki Wapshott uses the inspiration she gained from reading English at Oxford University to create thought provoking, poetic landscapes, seascapes and abstract works. Inspired by the coastline in and around Polzeath, this new collection of paintings explores the subtle beauty of light and colour conjured up by the ever-changing atmosphere of Cornwall's beautiful North coast.

Studio Potter Hugh West has been making pots for almost 50 years. He studied ceramics at Redruth School of Art, before setting up his own studio in Cornwall, and later La Borne in France. His delicately structured, hand thrown porcelain ceramics respond to natural aspects of the Cornish landscape, from passing birds to rock formations and rolling Atlantic waves.

Sculptor Peter Graham's BA in Fine Art was followed by postgraduate training in Stone Carving at the City & Guilds of London Art School. Pushing the graphic possibilities of stone relief carving to new levels of creativity, often with the inclusion of gilding, his work is strongly influenced by ecology, the natural environment and scientific illustration, in particular Robert Hooke's 'Micrographia' study of insects, published in 1665.

The exhibition opens on 20 July and runs through to 18 August.
