HYSTER® “RHINE TOUR” TO SHOWCASE INLAND TERMINAL CAPABILITIES

Hyster Europe is taking its trucks on tour to several locations along the River Rhine to showcase how Hyster® trucks support inland terminal operations. New products and solutions will also be showcased.

A selection of Hyster® equipment for handling from ship to store will be transported on a barge on the Rhine, from the Netherlands to Switzerland. At selected terminals along the river, demonstrations will take place to show the capabilities of Hyster® trucks in addressing the specific challenges of inland terminals.  At other stops, customers will be able to view the products on the barge and speak to Hyster Europe, and their local dealers, about the available solutions for their application needs.

Along with Hyster® products, offerings from several key Hyster® suppliers and partners will also be transported on the barge, enabling visitors to discover the extensive related solutions available for ports and terminals – not just materials handling equipment.

Running throughout June and July, the Hyster® Rhine Tour will commence during the TOC Europe event in Rotterdam, which takes place from 12-14 June.  The Rhine Tour will launch with a special event in Rotterdam port which includes a demonstration of the newest Hyster® offerings to meet the particular needs of inland terminal applications.

“The extensive range of Hyster® equipment supports a huge number of port and terminal operations around the world and we are consistently developing Hyster® products to help demanding operations meet their application specific requirements,” says Mark Nailer, Industry Manager for Hyster Europe. “We are looking forward to meeting with new and existing customers during this exciting event and showing them how Hyster® solutions can benefit their operations.”

Hyster Europe has revealed that the Hyster® RS46 ReachStacker which features a new elevating cabin option is one product that will be presented during the Rhine Tour.

Latest Hyster® RS46 ReachStacker cabin option heightens visibility for ports and terminals

The tough Hyster® RS46 ReachStacker can now be specified with a new hinged elevating operator cabin option, to optimise visibility and help meet the challenges of demanding port and terminal applications.

With the new ‘hinged’ elevating cabin, the Hyster® RS46 offers direct visibility of 2nd rail containers even when there is a high cube container on a railcar in the first rail position. This helps to reduce damage and provides greater efficiency.

The new moveable cab is raised and lowered smoothly on a hinged arm and the speed can be adjusted. The container handling truck will continue to operate when the cabin is raised but the speed is automatically reduced to 10Km/h, and both doors must be closed.

With fewer components, as well as reduced sideways movement, shock and vibration when driving, the cab offers an optimal ergonomic driver environment. An optional tilt of up to 10° can also be added to help make handling high stacks even more comfortable.

These design features of the Hyster® truck also reduce wear and tear, and maintenance, to help port and terminal operations to control costs and maximise uptime.

In addition, compared to a mast, when the cab is lowered, it does not increase the truck height. This offers benefits for road transport while also helping to prevent the rearwards view from being affected.
