Captain James Wadsworth Challenge launch The Soldiers Pass Run

The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge has launched endurance event ‘The Soldiers Pass Run’ to raise money for charities supporting soldiers and their families.

The challenge, which celebrates its inaugural year, will take place on
Saturday July 14 2018, and is designed for service personnel and civilians alike, with a variety of distances and abilities. Participants have the choice of 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K routes which all start and finish in Didcot - with the added option of a 100k route that takes runners as far as Reading.

As well as the run itself, families and non-runners are invited to take part in a fun day at Vauxhall Barracks for a chance to enjoy refreshments and meet serving military personnel. The event is a true physical and mental challenge for people of all ages and is in aid of the Felix Fund - a charity that supports bomb disposal experts, the EOD community and their families.

Captain James Wadsworth CGC, founder of The Soldiers Pass Run, said: "I'm extremely proud of all the hard work and effort that has gone into making this challenge possible, and look forward to raising money for a fantastic cause. There are some great routes that are equal parts inclusive and challenging, so it's shaping up to be a really great day out.

"The men and women we're supporting with The Soldiers Pass Run have given so much to keep us safe, and to make the world safer for people all over the globe, so events like this are the least we can do to help them get back to full health."

Melanie Moughton, CEO of the Felix Fund, added: "We're immensely grateful to The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge for all the great work they've put in, both in this new challenge and the Tour De Troops, and we're looking forward to what is sure to be an amazing event. People of all ages and abilities will be there, and we hope it will raise money and awareness about the work of bomb disposal experts, who provide a vital role in our armed forces."

The Soldiers Pass Run will take place alongside the Tour De Troops, returning for its second year in June, which involves an 874 mile (1,407 km) bike ride from Land's End to John O'Groats, taking five days to complete.

The two events make up The Captain James Wadsworth Challenge for 2018, which raises money for service personnel and their families. To sign up, please visit
