North Yorkshire rapeseed oil producer expands its commercial team

A farm-based business in Thixendale has bolstered its commercial team with the appointment of an Account Manager.

Richard Sharp joins Jason Thompson as part of the sales team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, as the business celebrates its 10thanniversary year.

Former owner of Mollie Sharp's Cheese Shop in Selby, Richard will spend his time looking after existing customers and looking for areas to develop the Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and Charlie & Ivy's brands throughout Yorkshire and the North of England.

Adam Palmer, who founded the business with his wife, Jennie in 2008, said: "We've known Richard for years as Mollie Sharp's stocked our products and we're delighted to welcome him to our close knit team.

"Richard's appointment will help us to raise the profile of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil by exploring new opportunities to grow the business in our Yorkshire heartland."

Richard is excited by the opportunity ahead and said: "I always enjoyed dealing with the team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil in my shop days. There's just a certain honesty from everyone involved and always has been. I love the whole back story and the business is a true family affair that I'm very proud to represent."

When he's not busy building relationships with customers, Richard teaches drums in a school and plays in a wedding/function band. He is passionate about all of the products that he sells, but is particularly partial to the mayonnaise. "Don't ask me to decide between mustard and garlic though as I wouldn't be able to! They're very versatile and just lift everything you put them with." he concluded.

2018 is the company's 10th anniversary year and the team are marking the celebration with a series of Yorkshire themed competitions through social media. The current competition is to win a bundle of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil goodies plus a £20 voucher for the Robert Fuller Gallery that is just a stone's throw from the farm where the rape is grown, pressed and bottled.
