5-Star Southampton complex completed using TREMCO flooring products
A comprehensive selection of TREMCO adhesives, smoothing compounds, damp-proofing and other products - manufactured bytremco illbruck- have been used in the construction of an iconic new development in one of the South Coast's most stylish locations: selected by a major French based contractor and its specialist flooring company.
The Southampton Harbour Hotel- along with the Ocean View luxury apartments - has been built byBouygues UK, to become the city's newest five-star destination. While the design takes the form of an ocean liner, heading out to sea, the flooring around the public rooms, guest suites and 82 new apartments has been laid by London based, Sodec UK Ltd.
The preparation of the various sub-floors and the installation of the carpets, carpet tiles and timber flooring has been completed employing a fully compatible selection of TREMCO systems. These include the use ofTREMCO ES600 moisture vapour suppressant,ES100 Single Coat Universal DPM,SX220 fast setting self levelling compound,CS150 acrylic primerandCS175 epoxy primer for porous substrates, as well asTREMCO SF110 carpet adhesive,SF200 Carpet Tile Tackifier, andSF520 flexible wood adhesive.
Most widely used amongst the products required to treat some 12,000m2of floor area were the ES600 moisture vapour suppressant: specified as a two-coat treatment across sand and cement screeds. Then the SX220 levelled the subfloor in all of the guest bedrooms and residential apartments, ready for the installation of carpet tiles and click jointed engineered timber flooring.
tremco illbruck was awarded the contract thanks to the comprehensive nature of its product offering, covering all the requirements of a technically challenging project, as well as the support offered in terms of design and on-site guidance. As a result, the manufacturer's Area Sales Manager conducted tests including moisture readings on the substrates to be treated, and provided toolbox talks as well as other information for Sodec UK's operatives.
The Contract Manager for Sodec UK, Marius Petre, commented, "We enjoyed a very reliable relation with the tremco illbruck representative. The hotel building was a demanding structure requiring different floor build ups. The entire scope of works was done following all BS standards and for each new area moisture readings, site assistance and a tool box was done; tremco illbruck provided a wide range of products able to cover all my demands for the project".
