Architect and former NewVIc student Claudio Cabulo is working with NewVIc to produce a series of mock Art interviews and advice sessions to prepare students for university admission and work.

Claudio completed his BTEC National in Art and Design in 2009, and went on to study a BA (Hons) in Architecture Space and Objects at Central St. Martins. His passion to be an architect has led him to work with the award winning Simone de Gale Architects and the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. His latest accomplishment has been working with PRP Architects where his interior designs are currently being built in the new development Cherry Park, Stratford City in London.

Lisa Parkhomchuk , NewVIc Vocational and Technical Associate Principal said "Claudio was my first student, his determination is inspiring, he relates to the students so effectively that his experience and progression are both very relevant to them "

Claudio said "..because I was a NewVIc student and successfully secured a place at university I feel I can help students through the process, interviews are not designed to test you solely on your knowledge of the company or university, they want to know about you too.''

Between 2008-2009 NewVIc and other colleges worked alongside Central St. Martins. Projects were set at the university for selected number of students. "I felt encouraged to apply, the project work helped me during the interview which led me to gain a university place''

Born in Angola, Claudio moved here at a young age, his resilience and determination have contributed to his accomplishment "At school I was told by a career advisor I would not be able to become architect, I thought why can't I? I made a decision and focused on achieving my goal. I hope I can encourage NewVIc students to stay focused and not give up because I was once like them too''

Claudio is just one of many of successful former students who are taking time to work NewVIc to help students reach their full potential and prepare them for their next step after college.

The next NewVIc Open event is on Saturday 27 January 9:30-12:30, when potential students can find out about the wide range of courses on offer.
