Good Things Come in Trees

National Tree Week celebrated by VPS' Arboriculture Team

National Tree Week - the UK's biggest annual festival of trees - is underway, and the property and grounds maintenance experts VPS are highlighting The Tree Council's call to celebrate the value of trees, plant more and appreciate them all.

"Our trees can sometimes be taken for granted, but they need to be looked after and maintained, because they add so much to our well-being," says Heather Wicks, Head of Communications at VPS Grounds Services. "Not only do trees create a habitat for all sorts of wildlife, but they also help prevent flooding, clean our polluted air and water supplies and conserve energy. And of course, they provide us with food, fuel and building resources too."

VPS Grounds Services team undertakes all aspects of arboriculture, including health and safety inspections, tree planting, pollarding and also removal, where their expertise and quick response was in demand following Storm Brian's gale force winds last month.

They work with many housing associations and local authorities, requiring proactive liaison with tenants, residents and landowners and have just this month won the contract to carry out the annual health & safety tree inspections for a county council's 12 country parks.

Some time-lapse photography and drone video footage of tree maintenance appears on their twitter page @VPSGrounds
