New Mental Health Operations Director for Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Harrow and Brent

CNWL announces that Steve Cook is the acting divisional director for mental health in Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Harrow and Brent and will remain so for the next 3-5 months. A born and bred Liverpudlian, Steve moved to London over thirty years ago when his close friend recommended a career in nursing. His friend was right, and after starting as a student nurse working in Friern Barnet Mental Health Hospital in North London Steve then spent the next three decades working his way up to his permanent and full time role; CNWL Director for Nursing. He is acting as borough director for Jameson during in the interim whilst The Trust looks for a permanent candidate.

Steve said,

"Good management often comes from on the ground experience. Although a clinical background isn't compulsory to a senior management role, I do feel that my previous experience as a nurse helps me to empathise with our staff and patients, and understand the impact that decisions in healthcare have on individuals. Most importantly, it helps me to understand the value of compassionate care and the difference this makes to people's lives."

Steve lives in Hackney with his wife, a fellow healthcare professional, and son in Hackney. He enjoys family time and visiting his daughter who is at University in his hometown, Liverpool.
