Briggs sets cycle challenge for high flying heroes

Employees from Cannock-based Briggs Equipment will be testing their endurance by cycling the equivalent of Staffordshire to Scotland whilst raising money for a worthy cause.

Around 50staff from the forklift truck firm aim to cycle 345 miles using two exercise bikes at Nuffield Health Fitness Centre in Heath Hayes - the distance between Briggs' head office in Orbital Way to its Livingston depot in Scotland.

They hope to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance and with 48 half-hour slots planned, participants will need to cycle at least 6.7 miles and maintain an average cycle speed of 13-14 miles per hour.

"This fundraiser will be amongst one of the toughest we have held so far," commented Briggs Equipment's Chief Operating Officer, Chris Meinecke. "It's great to see that so many people are up for the challenge and willing to support such a great cause."

The 345 miles matches the distance between Cannock and Livingston via Haydock and Liverpool Docks where Briggs Equipment also has depots.

"This is just one of the many fundraising events we are holding this year as part of our commitment to support the Midlands Air Ambulance," Chris added.
