Westbury Garden Rooms comments on the Government's relaxation of planning permission regulations

Commenting on David Cameron's announcement to allow a 12 month moratorium on house extensions, Jonathan Hey, founder and MD of Westbury Garden Rooms said:

"These proposals will more than double the amount of space some homeowners can add to their property but some restrictions will still apply in conservation areas to ensure tight control of architectural heritage. The option to build up to eight metres without council planning permission is clearly very appealing but homeowners should weigh up the options carefully - bigger is not always better. Opting for a quality extension than is in keeping with an existing property or surrounding properties is a much more saleable proposition in the future."
