Dorchester Café and Brasserie acquires a Taste for Winning as it wins another Award
Taste Brasserie in Dorchester is quickly becoming used to the sweet taste of success as it was recently awarded Silver in the prestigious 2016/17 South West Tourism Awards at a glittering ceremony which took place at Bristol's Ashton Gate and saw over 470 people gathered from tourism businesses across the South West.
Taste won Silver in the highly competitive Best Café and Tearoom and was competing with similar businesses throughout the South West. Only a few months previously in October 2016, the business received Gold at the Dorset Tourism Awards in the same category and in the same month it also received the Taste of the West Casual Dining Award which again pitched them against businesses across the whole region.
Tourism judges commented, "This is an outstanding high-street café. From the modern, trendy interior to the quality of the food and the care put into making their coffee, their desire for excellence shows in every aspect of their business. The most striking aspect of our visit was their passion for friendly and welcoming customer service. Every member of staff was attentive, interested and smiley. Even the door is carefully positioned so that new customers immediately receive a smile and a friendly hello."
Owners Todd and Louise Moffat have brought a wealth of catering experience to Taste Brasserie which they took over in 2006. Before buying Taste, they owned and ran the popular Acorn Inn in Evershot, Dorset improving it and changing its image to a popular pub, loved by locals and families alike. However once this had been achieved it was time for another challenge and the pair have created a contemporary, café style bistro serving good, freshly prepared, honest food at fair prices.
Taste Brasserie is also becoming well known for its special evening events like the one planned for Friday and Saturday night on 31 March and 1 April when guest chef Russell Brown will be cooking up a treat with a special menu. At just £55 per person, customers are advised to book quickly for this popular event.
Louise commented on winning the Silver Award, "We are so delighted to have received this Award and it is really a testament to all the hard work put in by our staff. We certainly acknowledge how important customer service is to everyone who visits us and that is why we send our staff on regular professional training courses as well as putting them through NVQs and Apprenticeships. We believe investing in people is the way forward for business success and these Awards seem to be proving us right!"
