Broker insurance business overtaking comparison sites

Dear

Further to my email last week about the dangers of taking out motor insurance with a company with no credit rating, SEIB insurance Brokers have more news.

Business on the SEIB private motor account has more than trebled in the past two years. In the below release, SEIB MD, Barry Fehler discusses the reasons he believes business is booming for his long-standing company.

I hope this will be of interest to you and please do let me know if you would like any further information or to speak to Barry in person for further detail.

Kind Regards

Jenny

PRESS RELEASE

30th September 2016 – FINAL

Is the popularity of insurance company comparison websites waning?

SEIB Insurance Brokers, a leading company with over 50 years-experience in the insurance world, has seen a surge in business. The SEIB private motor account has trebled in the last two years. This is not because more people are taking out insurance policies, it is because of a shift in customer habit.

SEIB Managing Director, Barry Fehler said: “We have always held our core value of good old fashioned service. People are fed up with wasting time in a telephone que, never getting to speak to the same person twice and then often not being sure exactly what cover they have in place. People are also coming to the realisation that the comparison sites aren’t saving them much, if any, money.”

There has been much in the press of late about the problem of dual-pricing with insurance companies. This is when an insurance company offers an artificially low price for the first year of cover and then when an automatic renewal reminder is sent out, the premium increases substantially for the second year’s cover. If the customer accepts this automatic renewal then any saving they have made initially is neatly cancelled out. At renewal time for SEIB clients, the broker checks the full market and does all the related research for each client.

Barry Fehler continued: “An insurance broker is working for the customer. An insurance company is working for itself.  At SEIB customers speak to knowledgeable staff who are thoroughly trained and know what they are talking about. No one size-fits-all policy is used at SEIB and staff working for the company discuss the customer’s requirements in detail before searching for suitable policies.”

An insurance broker has access to all the available policies on the market. By buying a policy direct from an insurance company, the customer only has the very limited market of the best fitting policy offered by that particular insurer.

Barry added: “Some of our team have been with us at SEIB since the 1980’s and they know which insurance product will suit a customer’s needs and protect their best interests.”

This emphasis on customer service means that people insured through SEIB have the reassurance of the cover they need at a competitive price.

SEIB Insurance Brokers provide their tailored service across the main insurance areas including home, motor and travel.

The company also specialises in niche cover for private hire, equestrian policies and funeral services.
