For Immediate Release

Xscape announced as lead sponsor of the MK50 Photography Book initiative

Xscape; Milton Keynes' premier leisure destination, and Gill Prince, a local freelance urban, landscape and travel photographer, are delighted to announce that Xscape has become lead sponsor for the MK50 Photography Book project, which is being developed in association with Milton Keynes Council.

This high quality art book will feature 50 landscape, urban and architectural images of Milton Keynes as it is today, and aims to demonstrate to readers how beautiful and unique Milton Keynes is at 50 - to raise awareness and to help promote the town as a vibrant and exciting place to live and work. It will be published in December 2016 in time for the start of the birthday celebrations in early 2017.

Xscape is the 10th confirmed sponsor for the project, following on from the announcement of The Open University's sponsorship earlier this month. The full list to date includes:

  • Xscape

  • The Open University

  • MK Business Leaders Partnership

  • MK McDonald's Franchisee Ken Tomkins

  • Web design agency westfourstreet

  • Riverford Organic Farmers MK franchise

  • Newport Pagnell based Daisy Bogg Consultancy

  • Furzton Lake based 1st Financial Foundations

  • Digital agency MK21

  • Brinklow-based SEKO Logistics

As lead sponsor, Xscape will take a key role in promoting the initiative within Milton Keynes and will also feature as part of the introduction within the finished publication. Xscape boasts annual footfall of over 7 million guests thanks to its wide range of leisure activities, shops, bars and restaurants.

Commenting on the decision to sponsor the MK50 Photography Book, Xscape General Manager Carl Meale said: "We jumped at the chance to be sponsors of this book - as the most iconic building in the City, images of Xscape are used nationally and beyond as a symbol of MK. It's a natural fit for us to be involved in this brilliant project, and we can't wait to see it complete!"

Gill Prince added: "Xscape was definitely one of the top businesses on my list, that I thought would see the value in this project - I'm thrilled that they are so excited to be on board.  Now, just to choose which image of Xscape to include.....!"

About the MK50 Photography Book

To cover full production costs for the initial 500 print run, further sponsorship from Milton Keynes businesses will be vital, so an ongoing search for sponsors is still taking place. Sponsors will each receive a proportion of the books for use as corporate gifts for Christmas 2016, as well as being involved in all supporting publicity and having their logo in the book.
