SARH goes for gold in tenth anniversary year

Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) has been recognised for continually improving its health and safety practices with a fourth consecutive Gold Medal from an organisation that leads the way in promoting safer workplaces.

The accolade from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) will be presented at a special awards event at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole next month where Stafford's largest landlord will also be presented with its eighth Gold Award.

Jo Hough, Assistant Director, Organisational Development, said the Gold Medal was presented to holders of the Gold Award that had delivered ongoing health and safety improvements.

"We have earned a Gold Award for eight years in a row, but we are never complacent and we are constantly looking at ways to further improve the way we work.

"This makes for a safer working environment for our employees, customers and visitors to our premises."

RoSPA is currently celebrating 60 years of presenting highly-regarded and sought-after accolades to businesses and organisations that have shown commitment to accident and ill-health prevention.

Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants' overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

To win a RoSPA Award is considered a great achievement as it recognises an exemplary commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record and raises the bar for other organisations to aspire to.

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, commented: "Consideration for the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers is at the heart of everything we do, and this approach is embraced by everyone in the organisation.

"We are delighted that this commitment has once again been recognised by RoSPA, and congratulations must go to the entire SARH team for their hard work in making the housing association such a great, and safe, place to work.

"The Gold Award and Gold Medal have given us yet more reasons to celebrate in our tenth anniversary year."
