Damsels In Distress at Pitlochry Festival Theatre

GamePlan - a witty, contemporary black comedy is next to open in Pitlochry Festival Theatre's expanded Summer Season of Seven shows, on Thursday 9th June, 2pm and 8pm. 

Penned by one of Britain's most well-loved and prolific playwrights, Alan Ayckbourn, GamePlan is part of the extraordinary Damsels In Distress trilogy.

Together with Flatspin and RolePlay, all three plays are a comic study of the metropolitan madness and moral confusion that has become all too familiar a part in of life in 21st century Britain.

Each play in the trilogy is an entirely separate stone alone story, featuring completely different characters. Uniquely, however, all three plays share the same set - and the same actors.

The Story:

Sorrel Saxon has a pretty wonderful life: she attends a posh private school and lives in a smart Docklands apartment, this enviable lifestyle made possible by her parents' lucrative online business. Yes, it's a pretty wonderful life. . .

Until, that is, Sorrel's father walks out, the family business collapses, her mother Lynette has to take a cleaning job and there's no money to pay the school fees. Then Sorrel is faced with the prospect of bidding her wonderful life farewell and moving to somewhere more affordable. Like Birmingham. . .

Appalled, Sorrel decides that she has to arrest her family's downward spiral. Unfortunately, her plan to turn things around involves reinventing herself - online, of course - as a provider of. . . ahem. . . "adult services".

Roping in her gawky best friend, Kelly, to assist, Sorrel prepares to entertain her first client. But dabbling in ‘the oldest profession' is never straightforward. And Sorrel's plan falls apart before it even starts. And when the police knock at the door investigating a suspected murder, changing schools is the least of Sorrel's problems.
