Stafford-based housing association is urging its green-fingered customers to show off their gardening skills by entering a popular Garden Awards competition.

One of the highlights of the summer for Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH), the annual contest sees dozens of local residents open up their gardens to a team of judges.

In 2015 the standard was higher than ever, with local residents competing in a range of categories covering window boxes, borders and allotments, as well as traditional front and back gardens.

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive said: "Every year the gardens become ever more beautiful and as we celebrate our tenth birthday year we expect the standard to reach new heights!"

"The awards also give us the chance to recognise and support the efforts our customers are making to improve the areas where they live whilst encouraging people to get active in the garden and out in the fresh air."

The deadline for entries this year is Friday, July 1 with judging taking place in the week commencing July 18. The winners will be announced during a special Awards event on Wednesday, August 3.

SARH customers can apply onlineat www.sarh.co.uk/gardencompetition and they can also nominate anyone who lives in a SARH property for an award, including the ever popular Young Gardener of the Year.
