RTITB to Encourage Safety First at Microlise Transport Conference 2016

RTITB will be exhibiting at the Microlise Transport Conference in May 2016 to promote a “safety first” approach to all workplace transport. As a Silver event sponsor, RTITB, the preferred regulatory body for workplace transport training, will be raising awareness of the vital role that training, processes and operations play in road transport safety and will deliver a breakout session presentation focused on accident reduction.

The presentation from Richard Brewer, Technical Services Executive at RTITB, will look at promoting safety, discussing the issues surrounding vehicle technology and vulnerable road users.

“Vulnerable road user casualty figures are disproportionally high when compared to other road user types,” says Richard. “The presentation will promote responsible driver behaviour, and explore how training coupled with road safety technology can help to reduce risk.  This combined approach can offer the best solution for improving the safety of everyone, including vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians.”

RTITB’s services are used by many of Microlise’s visitors which include employers of large fleets of forklift and LGV drivers, some of whom have already benefitted from both RTITB’s Health Check Services and full training solutions.

“Our mission is to reduce costs and save lives in all businesses that use workplace transport of any kind, and the RTITB Health Check, for example, is designed to identify the operations, training and processes which prevent companies from achieving maximum safety, compliance and e¬fficiency,” says Laura Nelson, Managing Director for RTITB.

Laura continues “RTITB also offers tailored training solutions which can be customised to address particular business needs, gaps in knowledge or the specific work environment, which ensures that the training delivered is as effective as possible. This in turn increases workplace transport safety and efficiency, while often helping to control training costs.”

The Microlise event will include a 4,000 square metre exhibition area featuring some the biggest names in supply and transport operations, and trade associations, alongside a special stand from RTITB.

“To help visitors understand what they could learn on courses at the RTITB Instructor Academy, we will be displaying one of our training vehicles,” says Laura. “There will also be a team of RTITB experts available to explain how our Health Check services and tailored Driver CPC courses not only improve safety, but also offer business benefits. We’re keen to ensure that people understand the direct, positive impact that RTITB training can have.”

Microlise, which is being held at The Ricoh Arena, Coventry on 18th May 2016, is Europe’s largest road transport conference. The free-to-attend event sees more than 1,000 delegates such as industry experts and trade organisations gather for the exhibition and a range of informative workshops and exclusive presentations from some of the leading speakers in the industry.
