Labcell to exhibit dynamometer and in-vehicle engine test instrumentation at Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2016
Automotive Testing Expo Europe, 31 May - 2 June 2016, Hall 1, Messe Stuttgart, Germany, Booth 1202
The M400MR, a versatile, multi-range engine blow-by meter for
diesel and gasoline engine testing
Labcell Ltd will be exhibiting a wide range of engine test instrumentation at Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2016. The company markets and supports instrumentation for dynamometer and in-vehicle applications requiring measurement and analysis of air/fuel ratio, blow by, air intake flow rate, %EGR, Lambda, NOx, NH3, %O2, pressure, flow and temperature. A number of the instruments have integral CAN communications ports, and Labcell also supplies CAN modules for interfacing with instruments that do not have built-in CAN capability.
One of the highlights at Labcell's booth will be the M400MR multi-range engine Blow By meter that can operate in either flow rate or totaliser mode. Compact, accurate and reliable, the M400MR is suitable for testing both diesel and spark-ignition (gasoline) engines, and the user-selectable flow ranges enable a single instrument to be used on engines of almost any capacity. The versatile M400MR comes with an oil separator and damping tank, offers very low flow restriction, and is easy to connect to the engine under test.
Another instrument that will be of interest to many visitors is the ECM LambdaCAN module for in-vehicle and dynamometer testing of diesel and spark-ignition (gasoline) engines where there is a requirement for a wide measurement range and fast response. Being CAN-compatible means that the lambda (air-fuel ratio) module is simple to integrate within a CAN-based control and monitoring system, and the optional pressure compensation dramatically improves accuracy when the engine is operating in non-stoichiometric or non-atmospheric conditions. Capable of operating with all Bosch and NTK-type next-generation wideband sensors, the LambdaCAN measures from 0.40 to 25 lambda (and AFR from 6.0 to 364, and per cent O2from 0 to 25) with an accuracy of +/-0.005 lambda at stoichiometric and a response time of less than 150ms. One sensor and one programmable LambdaCAN module can be used for any fuel, with the sensors being factory calibrated and the calibration data stored in a chip installed within the sensor's connector. Recalibration can be performed in ambient air, with the recalibration data also stored in the chip. This ease of recalibration helps to overcome the problem of sensor aging that can otherwise be a significant source of error in lambda/AFR/O2measurements.
A recent addition to Labcell's portfolio is the Meriam MDT500 Multivariable Digital Transmitter that considerably improves the acquisition of engine air intake flow measurements when using a filtered or unfiltered laminar flow element (LFE). The MDT500 measures the differential pressure produced by the laminar flow element to give a direct analogue output of flow.
Other instrumentation being exhibited by Labcell at Automotive Testing Expo Europe covers the measurement of flow, temperature, pressure and cabin condition parameters, and Labcell will also be presenting CSM Minimodules that convert measurement signals for transmission via CAN-based networks.
Engineers from Labcell Ltd will be available throughout Automotive Testing Expo Europe to explain the features and benefits of the instruments and discuss specific applications.
