NEW PEONY TINCTURE GIVES HOPE TO THOSE WITH PCOS

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition experienced by between 5-10% of women who it is thought naturally produce too much testosterone, male hormone also known androgen. As well as infertility it also leads to other distressing symptoms such as weight gain, facial hair growth, male pattern baldness and erratic periods.

There is currently no medical treatment that offers a ‘cure' for PCOS, other than those to help manage the symptoms — good nutrition, exercise and adopting a generally healthy lifestyle.

However, the Japanese have been interested in and have carried out a series of trials on the Chinese herb, Red Peony, as a treatment for PCOS and have found that patients experienced a reduction in androgen levels and an overall improvement in symptoms.

Currently Red Peony Menopause Tincture from Hughes Health is the only registered Red Peony product available which, although licensed under the European Traditional Herbal Medicines Directive for the treatment for menopausal problems, may also be helpful in treating PCOS symptoms.

"Peony is a herb that has a long history of use in the treatment of female ailments, particularly in the traditional Chinese system of medicine. There is however, far more to Peony than its 'cooling', effect. It has also been discovered that Peony contains chemicals that can lower androgen and that this activity comes about as a result of the Peony acting directly on the ovaries, comments Carmarthen based medical herbalist Stuart Fitzsimons.

"Unlike other female herbs such as Red Clover, Black Cohosh etc which are phyto oestrogenic, Peony has no oestrogenic activity and is, therefore, safe with hormonal medication. This factor alone makes Peony a valuable treatment option. Peony also has other medicinal actions which makes it an essential addition to the professional herbalists dispensary"

Each 100ml bottle should last a month (dosage is 20 drops three times a day which can be added to water, juice or a smoothie) when results usually start to show.

The Peony tincture is entirely safe and won't interact with any other medications taken although it is not recommended for epileptics.

Available through independent health food stores or on-line from http://www.hughes-health.com, Red Peony Menopause Tincture from Hughes Health retails at £19.99 for a months supply.
