Customers celebrate SARH anniversary

Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) customers at Independent Living Schemes in Stafford have joined in celebrations to mark the housing association's 10^thbirthday.

Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of the area's largest landlord, joined staff at Gough Close and Crispin Close in serving up snacks and cakes to customers who had organised their own SARH birthday party.

Donna Morgan, Independent Living Co-ordinator at SARH explained: "The party was really driven by our customers and when we heard of their plans to mark the anniversary we were keen to get involved and help them stage an afternoon to remember."

Amongst around 60 partygoers was 73-year-old Dawn Philips, who has lived at Crispin Close for the past six years and also helped organise the event.

"We're always looking for the opportunity for a get-together. In the past we've had parties to mark Ascot races, the anniversary of VE Day and plenty of other events and anniversaries," Dawn said.

"When we realised that SARH was celebrating its 10^thanniversary, this seemed liked the perfect excuse for a party!"

Home to 54 customers aged over 55, the Independent Living Schemes in Gough Close and Crispin Close are amongst 19 similar developments across Stafford and surrounding areas managed by SARH.

They are home to a diverse range of people who enjoy being part of a secure community whilst having the independence and privacy of having their own front door.

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, commented: "It was fantastic to see so many people keen to join in our anniversary celebrations. We are very proud of the success of our Independent Living Schemes, alongside many other achievements over the past decade.

"This event gave us the opportunity to toast those achievements with the help of some of the people who matter most to us, our customers."
