Altecnic renews environmental pledge with support for clean water projects

A Stafford-based provider of precision heating and plumbing components has renewed its commitment to carbon reduction and at the same time pledged to support schemes that aim to bring clean, safe drinking water to millions of people in the developing world.

A UK leader in its field and a significant local employer, Altecnic Ltd was the first UK manufacturer in the heating and plumbing industry to become an entirely CarbonNeutral company.

The company supplies a range of energy efficient heating and plumbing products for household and commercial uses, including thermostatic mixing valves, flow control valves and many renewable energy solutions.

Now it is taking its commitment to the environment a step further by offsetting its carbon emissions against a number of projects related to improving water supplies, primarily in Uganda and Malawi.

Worldwide, nearly 1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water and projects supported by Altecnic will provide clean supplies to small rural communities by drilling additional boreholes and repairing broken ones.

Additionally, boreholes can be used as water wells by installing a vertical pipe casing and well screen which allows water to be extracted from the ground.
