A forward-thinking new report that urges the UK government to embrace advanced energy storage technology has been welcomed by Hoppecke Industrial Batteries - the leading specialist in energy storage systems and the largest battery manufacturer in European ownership.

Published by The National Infrastructure Commission, the ‘Smart Power' report recognises that greater use of energy storage could save UK consumers up to £8bn a year by 2030. The report also says that this "smart power revolution" could help the UK to meet its carbon emission targets and secure Britain's energy supplies for generations.

Hoppecke Industrial Batteries' Managing Director Jason Howlett said: "Hoppecke has been at the forefront of energy storage for many years. We have developed the technology to make cost-effective and efficient energy storage possible for businesses and homes and we have been working closely with local and central government to turn this futuristic ideal into a reality. We welcome the commission's report and look forward to a positive response from the British government."

Claiming that the UK could become a world leader in storing electricity, The National Infrastructure Commission's chairman Lord Adonis said that in energy the UK could lead the world in "interconnection, storage and demand flexibility, bringing jobs and investment into the country and cutting bills for consumers".
