Jane Abbott launches updated tableware collection
02 March 2016 - Designer and creator Jane Abbott has launched an updated fine bone china tableware collection based on three themes that have been inspired by her love of animals and the Great British countryside.
Jane Abbott has been designing and creating illustrations since the 1990s and while the business is based in Hertfordshire, she takes inspiration from the Highlands and the Cotswolds where she was raised.
With a contemporary take on countryside the designs are witty yet elegant; Jane's collection is full of English quirky charm. Her unique hand painted designs take a light-hearted look at the rural scenery and captures memories of her own upbringing.
The Henware Collection - amusing caricatures of Strutting Hen and Cockerel as well as the very popular Dancing Hen that was inspired by a much loved family hen named after the ballet dancer Dame Margot Fonteyn.
The Mouseware Collections - three little mice dance, twirl and curtsey across range that includes a new babbycino mug representing Charlotte Mouse, named after our young Princess.
The Gameware Collection - inspired by a family of partridges that lived in the fields by Jane's house but feature also pheasants, grouse among the heather.
The trend in home cooking has been encouraged by TV cookery programmes such as Jamie Oliver's 15 Minute Meals and Great British Bake Off. Health concerns and the inclination to eat more natural and healthier meals are also leading to a growing preference for home cooking as well as socialising at home. As a result there's been a growth in cookware and kitchenware sales by around two percent in recent years.
Jane says: "Seeing all these animals every day in my garden is a wonderful source of inspiration. The pheasants, the partridges and the other creatures around me fired my imagination when I was young and I hope that I've been able to transfer these reflections of the dance and movement into the characters in my designs."
The Fine China Bone collections include plates, mugs and bowls of various sizes, jugs and egg cups all with animals taking centre stage and are available from Scotts of Stow and online atwww.janeabbottt.com.
