MARIONETTE
Making dreams come to life
Marionette will mark Beyond Illusion Pictures' move towards abstract and surreal films, music videos and promos. Natasha is interested in Surrealism and Expressionism and wants to fill a niche in the market and explore a more artistic visual style. Marionette is the first step towards making that a reality and moving Beyond Illusion Pictures into that new direction as a more creative, artistic and unconventional production company. Natasha is a London born filmmaker but studied in Bournemouth University, it's important that we are able to make artistic films in an age where funding has been cut and film-makers struggle to step up the ladder and further their careers. Not only that, women are still not considered as equals in many professions especially the arts, so Marionette will hopefully be one step closer to bridging the gap between the genders, inspiring other female film-makers to pursue their dreams and choose the career path they want.
Natasha Marburger is directing her first film, entitled Marionette. A Producer at Beyond Illusion Pictures Limited, Natasha wrote the script many years ago based on a number of weird dreams she had.
The story is about a woman who wakes up in a strange place, eerie and unfamiliar. She notices two figures, one naked, one in a black cloak. She can't see their faces and she's unnerved by the situation. She follows them out of curiosity and in an attempt to get out of this place. As time goes on and she finds herself returning to the same point over and over again and unable to get close to either of the two figures, she starts to get confused and disorientated and desperate to get out! But the ending reveals that perhaps she shouldn't have been so eager after all...
The film is interesting in that images of a miniature world inhabited by a marionette puppet will be juxtaposed with the live action; "doll world" will be a scale-model of the real-world set, and the marionette will be an exact replica of the lead actress". Natasha wants to make an original story that does not follow traditional narrative conventions and explores a variety of different techniques.
She has teamed up with Kyle Titterton, an incredible film-maker in his own right, and Athena Hiotis, an amazing Singer-Songwriter based in the USA, who has donated a song titled Marionettes to accompany the visuals. The song is performed by the band Reve and has an uncanny resemblance to Natasha's script.
