When Simone Remoli was 5 years old he learned how to make proper Italian pasta on Sunday mornings in his grandmother's country kitchen.

He's still making real pasta, but this time he's doing it in the busy setting of the Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, and proving that fast food really can be good food - even when it only takes 3 minutes to cook, in the shop or at home.

Pasta Remoli may be a long way from Simone's family background where the cooking started at 5am, but the tradition of using the very best ingredients continues.

Said Simone Remoli: "We use only the best Bufalo mozzarella from Naples, cherry tomatoes from Fondi, olive oil from Sicily, pecorino hard cheese from Rome and free range eggs from southern Italy. There are no short cuts to making the best pasta when you try it, you realise why. People in this country now appreciate much higher standards of food in everyday life. I would say we represent the second wave of Italian restaurants that now serve pasta which is as good as any you will find in Italy. Our customers certainly tell us it is the best pasta they have eaten in Britain!"

Pasta Remoli produces daily hand made fresh pasta, matched with proper Italian homemade sauces produced by Chef Simone Remoli, based on his background and experience, from learning at his grandmother's knee to his experience of working with cuisines in six different countries to working to the high standards required by Michelin stared restaurants.

All that background and experience is now available to shoppers at Westfield Stratford City where Simone's first outlet is to be found in The Great Eastern Market, so they can prove for themselves that, yes there is a bit more to pasta than a ‘spag bog' made with dried sticks of spaghetti.

Added Simone: "What makes our pasta unique is the passion and heritage of Italian food that I learning from my mother and grandmother. This gives me the inspiration to create something unique every day. What we are offering people is a chance to sit down and experience the sort of pasta dishes I once had at home, in just 3 minutes.

And the restaurant has now launched a Loyalty Card. Collect just 9 stamps - you get one with each cooked pasta you buy, or for every £10 on take-home products - and you get a free meal.

Fast food can become slow food because Pasta Remoli also has a complete take away service including cooked dishes as well as all the ingredients so you can produce real Italian pasta at home in 5 minutes. Everything that you eat at Westfield can be carried home, from sheets of lasagne to the spider crab ravioli with all the sauces and garnishes.

There's a big range of handmade pasta on offer including plain pasta:

  • Tagliatelle,

  • Fusilli

  • Maccheroncini

  • Lasagna

  • Gnocchi

  • Gluten free

  • Whole wheat

Filled pasta:

  • Ravioli - with spinach and ricotta or black truffle and mushroom

  • Potato Gnocchi

  • Angnolotti with ox tai

  • Tortellini with Parma ham and parmesan cheese

  • Ravioli with spider crab.

Add cheeses including: Buffalo Mozzarella from the Naples countryside, aged Pecorino Sardo or Parmesan. 

Then there's the sauces. Vegetarians can choose from:

Pasta Remoli, Simone Remoli's first food outlet may be bringing the very best Italian pasta to the British retail scene, but there's one thing he won't be attempting: "Every day my mother would prepare a different starter, main course and desert. But the best day of all was Tuesday when she did Torellini in Brodo (stuffed pasta in chicken stock). I've never found anything that compares with it". Of course not!

Pasta Remoli is open from 09:00 - 21:-00 Mon - Sat, and 11:00 - 17:00 on Sun.
