Local Hotel Joins ‘Hall of Fame' After TV Encounter
The Fieldhead Hotelin Looe has been inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame', an exclusive club within the world's largest travel site, TripAdvisor, just months after appearing on hotel makeover show The Hotel Inspector.
Membership of this select group means that The Fieldhead Hotel has received consistently excellent reviews from its guests, achieving a Certificate of Excellence Award five years in a row.
The hotel's personal approach and strong customer service ethos has won high praise from visitors, with 145 reviews out of 177 rating the hotel as either very good or excellent.
Guests have repeatedly singled out the hotel's relaxing atmosphere, great breakfasts and helpful staff, recommending it as a great base for exploring Looe while soaking up the amazing views.
Despite these overwhelmingly positive reviews, owners Julian and Gill Peck invited hotel guru Alex Polizzi to visit last year, as they feared their traditional hotel was failing to attract a new generation of guests.
Alex instigated a programme of modernisation, simplifying the tariff and décor, updating the rooms and the website, and recruiting external experts to help with branding and marketing.
Julian explained that, despite glowing testimonials from those who visit, he was finding it hard to get the message out, saying: "We are a traditional hotel with very high service standards in a fantastic location, but it is getting harder and harder for our family business to compete with larger hotels with bigger marketing budgets and luxury facilities."
Julian and Gill have owned the hotel for 10 years and run it almost single-handedly; Julian fronts the operation, looking after guests from booking right the way through to check-out, while Gill has won many admirers for her delicious cooking and inventive menus, which follow the change of the seasons and make the most of local produce.
The hotel enjoys spectacular views over Looe Bay and boasts private balconies, an outdoor heated pool, a sunny terrace and sub-tropical gardens.
Julian hopes that the ‘Hall of Fame' award will assure guests of consistently excellent service, while The Hotel Inspector's overhaul will encourage new visitors to take a fresh look at The Fieldhead Hotel.
He commented: "This latest award proves that our guests appreciate the attention to detail and great service we offer."
He added: "We are also pushing forward with improvements to the rooms and public areas of the hotel and are determined to make our small family hotel a great place to stay for years to come."
