Hart Brown partner Chris Thurlow achieves Chartered Tax Advisor status
Hart Brown partner Chris Thurlow adds to the scope of the Trust & Investment department having achieved his Chartered Tax Advisor status. Being a dual qualified solicitor is highly unusual especially with such a high level qualification.
As a Chartered Tax Advisor, Chris is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation which is the leading professional body for Tax advisors in the UK. He is also a member of the Association of Tax Technicians. "The qualification requires and provides a great depth of knowledge in how the taxes work and interact in practice and options for planning to reduce the amount of tax payable by our clients", commented Chris. "Not only do we have an in-house financial planning team but we are now able to offer our clients an enhanced level of tax advice. With this breadth of service we will be able to help our clients to minimise the amount of tax they pay and be sure that their loved ones are receiving their intended legacy."
As well as being a Chartered Tax Advisor, Chris is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is a Mencap-recommended advisor in relation to wills to protect children with learning difficulties. The additional qualification will enhance the level of service that Chris can offer to his clients in wills, estate administration, trusts and powers of attorney, particularly in respect of advice and planning for inheritance tax, capital gains tax and the taxation of trusts.
Shaun Parry-Jones, head of the Trust Section commented, "Chris' qualification is quite an achievement and highly unusual for a solicitor to attain. Having this additional qualification will not only help Chris' immediate clients but also those of his colleagues across the firm's offices in Surrey and London looking to minimise tax for our clients."
