The son of a guitar legend, and friend of Marco Pierre White, has put a burger personally approved by Elvis on his menu as he prepares to open a gourmet steakhouse and grill in north London in memory of his father next month.

Brad Green, whose dad was guitarist Mick Green (said to have shaped British rock music from the 1960s and a major influence on Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Pete Townshend) is opening Green's Steakhouse and Grill on the High Street in Southgate, north London in October.

Green's will be about ‘affordable glamour’, and will sit comfortably between being a traditional London steakhouse in a modern format, and a gourmet burger bar, with quirky menu options such as ‘sliders’, which are mini burgers that can be ordered as a starter, or just as a mini main.

All the food will be sourced locally, and Brad has been lucky enough to have his friend, Michelin-starred, world-famous Marco Pierre White, to gain experience and expertise from.

“Marco has been kind enough to give me some great advice about the industry as a whole, and I am eternally grateful to him,” says Brad. “The best piece of advice he gave me was: ‘The whole way forward of dining out Brad is affordable glamour’, and my restaurant sits firmly in the ‘great quality, local, affordable food’ bracket.

The ethos of our restaurant is to deliver a sumptuous menu of homemade steaks, burgers and sandwiches made from fresh food sourced within 50 miles of the restaurant. All of the food will be freshly made to order. We are passionate about this; the only frozen thing in our freezers is ice-cream,” says Brad.

The recipe for the Green's Original Burger is a family one, passed down by Brad’s father, who was well-known for his love of hosting barbecues, and this burger was once even eaten (and approved) by Elvis Presley during Mick’s many years in the US. This was back in 1972 when Mick, who was out in the US touring with Engelbert Humperdinck, was approached by Elvis personally to join him on tour. Mick has worked with many legends, including Van Morrison and Paul McCartney, who described him as "one of the original rock heroes".

“Everyone knows how much Elvis loved burgers,” says Brad, “and the story goes that he was a particular fan of my Dad’s very own, homemade recipe.”

The restaurant’s signature dishes will also include Sticky Barbecue Chicken Wings and Hot Salt Beef Sandwiches. There will also be a Smokey Chipotle BurgerChicken Breast Sandwich and a number of dishes for vegetarians, including Mac ‘n’ Cheese and the Best Veggie Burger Ever. There will be several choices of steak including rib eye, fillet, T-bone and sirloin.

The restaurant will also be serving steaks on Steak Stones, where sizzling granite stones are brought to diners’ tables with the steak still cooking – and the diner becomes their own steak chef.

A home-made tangy and creamy Green's Fry Sauce will also be at the heart of the menu to accompany steaks and fries.

“We want our menu to appeal to the people of Southgate and further afield. We want Green's to be all things to all people. If customers want to enjoy a meal out with the family, then Green's can tick that box, but equally, the steakhouse and grill can be THE restaurant in north London to head to for a good Saturday night out with friends,” says Brad.
