Marc Trotter, Carlisle's Area Sales Manager, explains: "At a time when many similar companies in the sector are contracting, Barrett Steel Ltd, the UK's largest independent steel stockholder, is continuing to invest. It is part of a continuous improvement programme which reinforces the company's reputation for providing a quality service."

Marc Trotter and Sales Executive, Josh McKellar, have been involved in the steel industry for a number of years and are familiar figures in the region. Marc Trotter explains how Barrett is committed to maintaining local connections to benefit customers:

"The combination of Carlisle's daily deliveries and Bradford's further expansion means we can offer customers an unrivalled local service, stock range and processing facilities at extremely competitive prices. We are also confident that we will continue our successes within the agricultural, industrial, marine and nuclear industries in Cumbria and southwest Scotland."

The investment at Barrett's head office site includes five wagons, 20 trailers and a series of new equipment, including two saw/drill lines, two punching & shearing lines, two Kaltenbach 1001 saws and a shotblaster & priming line. Twenty new jobs have also been created at the Bradford site.
