DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon celebrates National Afternoon Tea Week
DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon celebrates National Afternoon Tea Week

The DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon is inviting people to come and celebrate a great British tradition in comfort and style this summer. As part of National Afternoon Tea Week (11-19 August 2018), the hotel is offering a sumptuous afternoon tea experience which includes a delicious array of savoury and sweet treats, selection of the finest teas, infusions and coffees – plus a glass of sparkling wine, priced at £25 for two.

Afternoon Tea Week helps to celebrate a uniquely British tradition that goes back to the 19th century when it first became a social event widely enjoyed by the great and the good alike. Queen Victoria herself was a huge fan and helped to popularise this mini meal that traditionally includes delicate finger sandwiches, sweet dainties, scones with jam and cream and, of course, a revivifying cup of tea.

Celebrating the nation’s love for tea – we drink 165 million cups a day in the UK – and the custom of combining this with sweet and savoury treats, The DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon, is honouring afternoon tea in traditional style this summer.

General manager Adam Flint says guests can enjoy a top experience in stylish and comfortable surroundings. “Afternoon tea is an occasion that can be celebrated by people of all ages. We’re offering traditional teas, freshly prepared by us and served in a relaxed setting and we look forward to welcoming guests throughout the week.”

Guests can enjoy a glass of sparkling wine before tucking into a mouth-watering selection of finger sandwiches including honey roast ham with a hint of mustard, creamy Coronation chicken, open faced oak-smoked salmon, free range egg mayonnaise and cress, and cucumber cream cheese. Sweet selections include freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves and various mini afternoon tea cakes, all served with freshly brewed teas and/or coffee. Afternoon tea at DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon would make the ideal gift, a surprise treat for someone special, or simply a great opportunity to get together with friends and have a tasty and enjoyable experience.

Located in the picturesque Wiltshire countryside and only a short drive from the town centre (next to Junction 16 of the M4), DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon has been refurbished to a high standard and offers guests a choice of 171 luxe en-suite bedrooms with air-con and coffee machines. The hotel has 15 meeting and conference rooms available for hire, including the second largest ballroom in Swindon, the renowned Lydiard Suite. Guests have access to the 24-hour fitness centre and the hotel also benefits from generous on-site parking.
