IT boosts competitive advantage at

Ecopac Power

Customers of one of the UK's top power supplies companies are enjoyingspeedier product delivery and more competitive pricingthanks to investment in a bespoke IT solution.

Ecopac Poweroffers the UK's largest range of AC-DC power supplies and is market leader in LED products for use in lighting, telecommunications, control systems, medical, military, audio/visual, security and automation applications.

Partnering with Rugeley-based software developer DBLogic (DBL), the company has implemented a custom built sales/purchase order processing and stock control system. An end-to-end solution, itintegrates everything from quoting through sales, purchasing, stock control, delivery and invoicing to financial control.

Steve Oxby, financial director at Ecopac Power, said: "Our overriding aim was to speed up the process from point of order to point of delivery to enhance customer service and we have achieved it thanks to our ongoing investment in a bespoke IT solution. 

"The DBL team is inherently flexible and welcomed our input at all stages of the design and implementation process. In fact, I don't think we could have found an IT partner more responsive to our needs or committed to helping us achieve our goals."

The switch to a customised system that meetsEcopac Power'sparticular requirements was driven by a rise in turnover but, as thebusiness evolves, one of the key challenges is to improve traceability, particularly on stock control and sales order processing.With data now readily accessible in a single, integrated IT system, Ecopac Power is maximising profitability through increased efficiency. 

DBL has been supporting Ecopac Power since 1997 and managing director Dave Barrett attributes the strength of the partnership to the company's approach to problem solving.

He said: "Ecopac Power takes full advantage of the flexibility we offerand, as a result, is reaping the benefits of an IT system that is a perfect fit for its business now yet also has the capability to cope with future developments."

Ecopac Power's products range from 1 watt to more than 18,000 watts and many of its 13,000 lines are world firsts.The business holds £2 million of stock at any given time andsources and manufactures power supplies for custom applications.
