What's it really like living with severe M.E.? New book out July reveals truth

What's it really like to go from 'normal' teenager to hospitalised for four years, unable to move or communicate or do anything for yourself...?

As the #MEdebate hits Parliament, a film about life with M.E. (UNREST, starring Jessica Taylor-Bearman) reaches the Oscar finals and with more and more awareness of what 'chronic fatigue' really means, 27-year-old Jessica reveals all in her very timely and topical, heart-wrenching, true story of the transition from active, happy teenage girl to being diagnosed with this life-changing illness. Enduring separation from her family, having to leave school, eventually being unable to eat, move or communicate, to getting well enough to return to the family home, even getting married to the love of her life Samuel and walking down the aisle, Jessica is an inspirational lady who still struggles daily, spends most of her time in bed, yet also manages to run a charity she founded called Share A Star.

We have advance copies of her new book (Hashtag Press, July 3rd, £12.99) to send out for review and consideration. Jessica is available for media interviews.

From a darkened world, bound by four walls, a young woman called Jessica tells the tale of her battle against the M.E Monster. The severest form of a neuro immune disease called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis went to war with her at just 15 years old. From beneath her dark glasses, Jessica glimpses a world far different from the one she remembers as a teenage school girl. This true story follows her path as she ends up living in hospital for years with tubes keeping her alive. This harrowing story follows the highs and lows of the disease and being hospitalised, captured through her voice activated technology diary called `Bug' that enables her to fulfil her dream of one day becoming an author. It provides a raw, real-time honesty to the story that would be impossible to capture in hindsight.
