Leader of Cardiff Council, Cllr Huw Thomas, said: "I am proud of the action my administration has taken to promote music in Cardiff, from intervening to help save Womanby St, to the commissioning of a new Music Strategy. Whilst recognising the Council's statutory duty to tackle noise pollution, I am not convinced this approach to buskers is proportionate.

 "This is ordinarily an operational matter but, on this occasion, I have made clear to the Chief Executive of the Council that any changes in our Buskers Policy should be deferred until the work on the Music Strategy is concluded in the autumn. The matter needs to be considered in the round with the ultimate aim of seeing more music-making in our city."
