Ashburton Cookery School is one of the UK's leading cookery schools and following a visit to the school earlier this year Liz who won MasterChef in 2008 was so impressed with the teaching and facilities at Ashburton that she decided to take up the challenge of the Advanced Chef Skills Plus Course and to take her culinary skills to a new level.

Liz, who has enjoyed a very successful career as a singer with the girl band Atomic Kitten and as an actress in the popular musical Legally Blonde is also forging a new career as a cookery presenter and blogger.

The Advanced Chef Skills Plus Course is a 2-day course and offers Michelin style cooking which is aimed at ambitious cooks who want to update their skills and techniques to produce food to a fine dining level.

It is not just Liz who will be spending the weekend at Ashburton's state of the art kitchens but she will also be cooking alongside her Mum, Janet who is also keen to take part in one of Ashburton Cookery School's most popular courses.

Liz says that she is always looking at new ways to improve her cooking and Ashburton Cookery School has the expertise to help her take her skills to the next level; "The course looks very exciting and I am looking forward to learning new recipes and skills. I was very impressed with Ashburton Cookery School on my last visit, the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming and they have such accomplished chefs who are also great teachers. It will be fun to have Mum along on my new culinary challenge as she is an enthusiastic cook too and has always inspired me. I think it is important which ever field you are involved with, whether it is cooking, singing, or acting it is so crucial to update your skills and you should never stop learning."

Chef Director Darrin Hosegrove says that the cookery school is delighted to welcome Liz back: "Liz has already shown what an accomplished cook is she is by winning celebrity MasterChef which was an incredible achievement so she has the talent and ability to cope with the challenges of the Advanced Chef Skills Plus Course. The courses at Ashburton are all about sharing knowledge and experience and having some fun while cooking so I am sure we will also benefit from Liz's culinary expertise and experience."

Liz is such a fan of Ashburton that she will be returning in the Autumn where she will be appearing at the Ashburton Food and Drink Festival on 8 September along with Plymouth's celebrity chefs, Chris and James Tanner.
