Yorkshire rapeseed oil business brings local producers together for EAT Yorkshire initiative

 

The team at a Thixendale family farming business is repeating an initiative to connect local businesses for the benefit of their customers.

 

Following the success of previous collaborations, Jennie Palmer from Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil approached selected Yorkshire food and drink businesses to participate in the fourth ‘EAT Yorkshire' promotion that offers consumers 10% off online sales with participating producers throughout March.

 

"We were really pleased with the reaction of both participating businesses and customers to the EAT Yorkshire initiative last year, so we have decided to repeat the promotion with more producers to give something back to our loyal customers," said Mrs Palmer.

 

"There are seven new businesses taking part in the initiative, so we now have 25 producers on board, ranging from Soanes chicken as seen on TV with chef James Martin and Anna's Happy Trotters pork as featured on Radio 4 through pasta and pickles to gin and gingerbread. Each business will offer a 10% discount on online orders from 1stto 31stMarch."

 

Two of the new businesses for 2024's Eat Yorkshire campaign are Elvington-based Derwent Honey whose ethicalapproach to bee-keeping makes for delicious honey andThe Gourmet Scotch Egg Company which hand-makes luxury Scotch Eggs usingfresh and free-range ingredients.

 

The complete list of businesses taking part is Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, Staal Smokehouse, Side Oven Bakery, Soanes Poultry, Chilli Jam Man, The Honest Bean Co, Wold Top Brewery, Sloemotion, Anna's Happy Trotters, The Yummy Yank, Raisthorpe Manor, Lottie Shaws, Puckett's Pickles, Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice, Yorkshire Dama Cheese, The Yorkshire Pasta Co., Warrendale Wagyu and Yorkshire Tonics. New for 2024 are Mr. Stanley's confectionery, Waves Coffee, Derwent Honey, The Gourmet Scotch Egg Company, Sawley Kitchen, The Yorkshire Sea Salt Co and Yockenthwaite Farm.

 

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil will create an Eat Yorkshire landing page on its website that will include links to all participants and will promote the initiative via social media.

 

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by Adam and Jennie Palmer on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range ofoils, dressings and mayonnaisebased on rapeseed oil that is produced exclusively from home and Yorkshire Wolds grown rape thatis pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.
