Organiser Nicky Chisholm, known locally as ‘PinkNicky' is hoping to double the turnout from last year's successful event and reach 500 sea swimmers.

  • All sea swimmers are welcome; everyone is uniting to celebrate the achievements of women worldwide and promote solidarity through their shared love for the sea.

  • Surfers Against Sewage are the charity partners. Introducing the Water Quality Report 2023, they say:"We've lifted the lid on the sewage crisis in all four corners of the UK, in this year's accessible, digital report."(https://waterquality.sas.org.uk/ ) The organiser hopes for a clean water on Saturday March 9thso that no one will be put off this momentous swim.

  • The IWD sea swim is not exclusively for women; it welcomes everyone who supports the cause of gender equality. While the event is aimed at celebrating women, it recognizes the vital role allies play in advancing social, economic, cultural, and political equality. Embracing diversity, individuals of all backgrounds are invited to join and contribute to the collective efforts for women's rights. This event will be one of thousands taking place across the world to celebrate IWD theme whose theme this year is #inspireinclusion.

  • Scheduled for Saturday, March 9th, 2024, at 3:00 pm, the event will commence with a warm welcome followed by an invigorating swim or dip, concluding by 4:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to wear warm and sparkly attire, creating a colourful spectacle on the beach.

  • The vibrant community of South Coast Sea swimmers, celebrated for their resilience and playful beach antics, gather weekly, bringing together a diverse group ranging from police officers and triathletes to A&E doctors, screenwriters, opera singers, podcasters, and even mermaids.

  • There will be a pre-swim safety briefing and lifeguards on duty during the swim.

  • The Everyday Adventure Podcast is running an IWD Sea Swim Mini Series interviewing everyday people on their passion for sea swimming.

Nicky Chisholm says:

"Come and join us - this is a mini adventure waiting to happening, 500 women, 500 Bobble hats and food for the soul! What's not to love?"
