The West Country Women Awards held its annual summer event at the stunning Heligan Gardens last Friday, where attendees enjoyed a fabulousBBQ underblazing Cornishsunshine.



The event celebrated the achievements and contributions of remarkable women throughout the West Country region - and encouraged people to nominate for this year's awards.




 

They were joined by much loved BBC presenter Julie Skentelbery who broadcast her whole show from the award-winning venue, interviewing a slew of

inspirational women from all across the westcountry.

The beautiful Heligan Gardens provided the perfect backdrop for this year's event, with its picturesque landscapes and tranquil ambiance.

 

Guests were treated to a mouth-watering BBQ feast, prepared by renowned chef Nat Tallents, showcasing the region's finest produce.



The menu featured an array of delectable dishes, including slow-cooked Heligan Hoggett with Khobez flatbread accompanied by garden pea, courgette and chilli dressing; broccoli, tahini and pomegranate; buckwheat, apricot and coriander; Heligan garden leaf salad; and potato, watercress and herb oil with mint yoghurt and peach Pico de Gallo followed by Lemon Posset and chocolate soil.



 

Attendees also enjoyed an assortment of refreshing drinks at the garden's special BBQ area, making the lunch a true culinary delight.

 

During the event, inspiring women were encouraged to apply and to nominate their friends, family and colleagues in various categories, commending their remarkable achievements and dedication to their respective fields.



 

The West Country Women Awards aims to empower and inspire women, highlighting their exceptional accomplishments and contributions to their communities.

 

"Heligan Gardens provided a breathtaking setting for this year's West Country Women Awards summer barbecue," said Tess Stuber, co-founder of the West Country Women Awards.

"The BBC joined the BBQ and we couldn't have had a better or happier day, it was a resounding success, with attendees enjoying delicious food and engaging conversations. It was truly a memorable event."

 

The West Country Women Awards will continue to recognise outstanding women in the region, providing a platform to celebrate their accomplishments and inspire future generations.
