Genus Recycling continuing to invest in Greater Manchester economy

Bury-based Genus Recycling has seen unprecedented growth this year that has enabled it to invest in creating new jobs.

The family-owned company, which operates across the UK and Europe, has expanded its team to eight, plus three contractors, and is targeting taking on even more employees.

In 2021, the company had turnover of £7.6 million, but this increased to £17.7 million last year.

Genus Recycling director Billie Chadwick said: "I'm proud that Genus Recycling is creating jobs and investing in the area where I grew up.

"The paper recycling industry is going from strength-to-strength and 2022 saw our turnover more than double compared to 2021. As the business grows, we will need to take on further staff to support our business."

Previously known as Materials Recycling & Consultancy, the company is hugely experienced in the recycling sector.

Director Patrick Kilcoyne added: "Our team has decades of combined experienced in recycling. We work with small- to multi-national sized businesses and organisations, helping them ensure their material is recycled, providing equipment where necessary, and giving them support on reporting and legislation.

"Although we work nationally and internationally, most of us live locally in Bury or Bolton and surrounding areas, so we want to continue to support our local economy."

Genus Recycling specialises in trading paper and cardboard to mills in the UK and Europe predominantly. It works with local businesses in Greater Manchester and across the UK to find recycling solutions for their paper and cardboard at state-of-the-art mills. This means that the paper and cardboard is recycled in the most sustainable way possible.

Director Rick Waterson said: "We work with companies that have paper and cardboard to recycle. That could be waste management companies, retailers, manufacturers and print rooms.

"Due to our experience in the market, we send material into UK or European mills, deal with all the paperwork and ensure it is recycled in the most sustainable way back into new paper and cardboard products."

As well as paper and cardboard, Genus Recycling can help companies to recycle their glass, steel, aluminium and plastic.
