Gaia provides ultimate luxury to prestige apartments

DEVImat electric underfloor heating (UFH) mats and DEVIlink wireless control systems from GAIA Climate Solutions are adding an extra touch of luxury to a development of high-end apartments for the Berkeley Homes Group in central London.

The one- two- and three-bed apartments at 375 Kensington High Street are part of a major development in seven phases by St Edward Homes Ltd which is part of the Berkeley Group.

With prices ranging from just over £900,000 to over £7.7 million, nothing has been spared in creating the ultimate luxury and comfort. High quality finishes abound with generous use of natural marble flooring in the bathrooms of each apartment.

Here, Gaia's DEVImat UFH system adds the finishing touch. Although marble is naturally cold to the touch, the DEVImat heating element - embedded within the adhesive directly beneath the tiles - ensures a warm, comfortable surface.

Controlled with the DEVIlink system, the UFH is independent of the main heating system which means there is the option of having a warm bathroom floor all year round - and not just when the central heating is on.

On this project, the DEVImat system was chosen because of its ability to respond rapidly to changes in temperature control. Traditional ‘wet' UFH systems are embedded deep within the floor screed, heating the floor itself to deliver a continuous, even warmth. This is ideal in most living areas, but in bathrooms and other areas where heating is required intermittently and for short periods, a fast response time is often desirable. DEVImat satisfies this requirement by locating the heating element near the surface of the floor; response times are therefore very fast and the floor is warm to the touch minutes after switching on. 

The system is controlled via the innovative DEVIlink colour touch screen panel which communicates wirelessly with individual floor thermostats to give precise temperature control.

DEVIlink not only provides accurate temperature control but also includes presets which can be programmed to modify schedules during the week or while the user is away.
