New Wedding Service Inspired by a Unique Historical Setting

An eagerly anticipated uniquenew wedding serviceis now ready to take bookings for 2015, following an overwhelming response at its launch atPengennaManor in Cornwall earlier this year.

Pengenna Manor's ‘A Most Curious Wedding Experience', a wedding showcase packed with ideas for unique and memorable weddings, saw the unveiling of Toby Buckmaster's brand newArtographerservice.

Toby is offering his professional skills as an ‘artist in residence', creating sketches and paintings of key moments during weddings and other events; compiling a record to cherish forever.

Based in Wadebridge, Cornwall, The Artographer is a brand new offering to the wedding scene across the UK.

Located in a secluded valley near Wadebridge, Pengenna Manor has medieval origins, and has been lovingly-restored as an intimate wedding venue; the historical setting was the perfect place to trial the new Artographer service in front of a crowd of visitors to the recent showcase.

"PengennaManor is a stunning location full of character," said Toby. "I was able to sketch and paint couples and families as they toured the grounds and caught a glimpse of what their own special day could be like."

The painting Toby created on the day has now been presented to Richard Blewett, owner of Pengenna Manor, to celebrate a successful event and the launch of the new service.

Richard commented:
"The guests loved Toby's evocative images; they captured the essence and feel of the setting beautifully. Many people came away excited after speaking to Toby about sketching or painting their weddings, inspired by what they saw here at Pengenna Manor. It's fantastic to hear he is now taking bookings for 2015 as The
Artographerand I'm sure he will become a regular at our weddings here."

Toby is a professional artist, who has been teaching the subject for 25 years; he began his career specialising in capturing events as they happened, producing monumental canvases depicting theatre and concert performances; for several years he has been sketching churches and venues for wedding invitations or mementoes for his wife Sarah's company, double award winning, English Rose Stationery.

He is now using his innate talent for capturing evocative scenes to sketch or paint those special, fleeting moments that couples want to remember forever.

Toby offers several different packages, which combine a number of sketches or a large painted canvas showing a montage of key moments, such as the exchange of vows or the cutting of the cake.

His style is impressionistic, with a sense of drama and movement - capturing the character of individuals and alternately conveying poignancy or celebration in equal measure.

FURTHER INFO: The face behindThe Artographer, Toby Buckmaster, is a professionally qualified artist and teacher of Art. He has always worked from Life, more recently portraying the rugged coastline of North Cornwall, which are done on site and in all weathers. Toby's work throughout University depicted people in different environments, culminating in a large 24 foot curved canvas of a production he had seen at Richmond Theatre in Yorkshire. There was also a 9ft painting of a concert by the London Philharmonic Orchestra at Twickenham. Throughout his teaching career, Toby has kept a visual journal of his trips and had developed a technique of visual minutes during meetings. He has also produced many drawings of churches/venues for clients of English Rose Stationery, where these drawings have been used on stationery. It seems therefore a natural step for The Artographer to not only depict the venue but capture the event as well.

Pengenna Manor, an imposing residence, has its origins as a small single-roomed, double-height, medieval hall house. During the reign of Elizabeth 1stit was greatly extended, to include 14 rooms and even a private family chapel. It was later refaced with a grand frontage in the late 17th century by a wealthy member of the clergy - Thomas Pocock. Pengenna was further extended in the 18th century with a small Georgian extension, and the 19th century with a Victorian kitchen.

The Grade II* listed Manor boasts a wealth of period features that makes it historically significant, including one of the earliest relief plasterwork friezes in the county depicting Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden with the serpent who tempted Eve curling around the tree of temptation.

The Manor house has now been within same family for generations, with the current owner Richard Blewett becoming the 7th generation of the Blewett family to take up residence in the property. Over 150 years ago his ancestors were tenant farmers of the Manor under their landlords, the Molesworth St Aubyns, of Pencarrow House near Bodmin. Fifty years later the Blewetts bought the manor and its land for the princely sum of £2,500 and the family have lived there ever since.
