Avalon grows as business expands across Europe

Avalon, the leading provider of pre-paid funeral plans, saw its business grow substantially in the year to September 2014.

Driving the growth is a huge increase in the number of enquiries the company is receiving from people concerned about increasing funeral costs. Website and head office enquiries were up by 300%, as were sales leads generated by stands at exhibitions and other events.

These have led to an expanded geographical spread of customers and a 99.2% increase in the number of funeral plans written since July 2013.

Between July 2013 and July 2014, Avalon gained its first customers in Portugal, Malta and the Spanish regions of Seville, Jaen & Cordoba. The company has opened an office in the Costa del Sol and has plans to open a branch in Almeria, Spain.

Avalon is now offering even more employment opportunities to UK expatriates living in Spain and across Europe. Numbers in Europe now match the UK having grown by 42%, from 41 in July 2013 to 58 in September 2014.

Jason Gardner, head of Europeat Avalon, said: “People realise that funerals costs will keep rising. Unsurprisingly, they are taking steps to protect their loved ones from the substantial implications of these rises by contemplating prepaid funeral plans with serious intent. As a consequence, we have nearly doubled our number of written plans in the year to September 2013.”

Avalon protects customers from rising funeral costs and the worry of arranging a funeral when the time comes, which can be complex outside the UK. Avalon’s three comprehensive packages, Balmoral, Windsor Way and Britannia, are available in Spain, Portugal and Tenerife. Alternative plans are available for customers residing in Cyprus, Malta and Turkey.
