Families on holiday in Grand Canyon West - home to the famous Skywalk glass bridge, an area owned by the Hualapai Tribe - can book overnight to stay at one of 26 canyon rim facing cabins and experience the magnificence of the sunset and dawn. Stay costs from US$129.00 (plus taxes, single/double occupancy). Included in the overnight package (www.hualapaitourism.com/overnight) is dinner with entertainment in the dining hall followed by fun making ‘S'mores' round a campfire with local cowboys while they tell tall stories. (S'mores - short for ‘Some More'! - are a popular fire roasted dessert made with sweet crackers, chocolate and marshmallows). Guests can be woken at dawn, to enjoy the sunrise over the Canyon - an once-in-a-lifetime experience. They are invited to enjoy wagon rides and learn how to ‘rope and quick draw just like in the westerns'. Gentle horse rides on the rim are available for nature lovers for 30, 60 or 90 minutes.

Tickets for theHualapai Legacy, (to view charges go to www.hualapaitourism.com) have to be be purchased by all visitors to Hualapai Ranch as this allows guests access to the ‘hop-on, hop-off Shuttle' to explore the Canyon from key vantage points includingEagle Point, where guests can walk around authentic native American dwellings, enjoy tribal performances and purchase local handicrafts.Guano Pointoffers spectacular panoramic views over the Colorado river across the canyon and history hungry youngsters can view the remains of a fascinating old tram from the 1930's that transported valuable guano fertiliser 8,800 feet from rim to rim on a wire.

Of the nearly 50 visitor testimonials on TripAdvisor, over 80% have rated the Grand Canyon West / Hualapai Ranch ‘excellent' or ‘very good' and have ranked it 9thout of 21 ‘speciality lodgings in the Grand Canyon National Park'. The best way to access the Hualapai Ranch for an overnight stay is by car - there are many hire car options from nearby capitals but from Las Vegas, for instance, daily rates start at approximately £25 all inclusive.
